On March 24, 2013, Wal Reat (right) was ordained at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Faribault. For the last several years, the Southeastern Minnesota Synod has been abuzz with the addition of several new African ministries. Reat was the lay leader at Nile Our Savior's Synodically Authorized Worshipping Community, which is now fully part of Our Savior 's Lutheran Church. Reat is called to Our Savior 's and continues to minister to the Nuer population. He is the first leader from one of the synod's African ministries to be ordained. Reat is originally from Sudan.
