Global Mission: Building Leaders in Tanzania

Mwangaza is a grassroots, faith-based organization that engages participants in leadership skill development in all 20 dioceses of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania and companion synods of the ELCA. Since 1996 Mwangaza has provided learning opportunities for secondary teachers and students, women leaders, and congregational teams in programs addressing topics including English language skills for teachers and students, lesson plan assistance for teachers, HIV and AIDS, women’s health, and advocacy.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the Southeastern Minnesota Synod have supported several projects at Mwangaza. Get more information on this vital ministry at mwangazapartnership.org or contact Kathy Bolin at the synod office (bolin@semnsynod.org, 507-280-9457, or 800-426-6376 in Minnesota).

Lutheran Campus Ministry: Thank you!

THANK YOU! The Lutheran Campus Ministries in Mankato and Winona are grateful that 2012 Synod Assembly passed Resolution 2012-03: Call to Celebrate and Support Lutheran Campus Ministry, encouraging “its congregations and individuals to develop partnerships with Lutheran Campus Ministry to strengthen LCM’s mission in this synod.”

Our campus ministries are already developing materials to share with the congregations and members of our synod. We are excited to tell our stories and share the good news of campus ministry in our synod on Lutheran Campus Ministry Sunday (September 23, 2012).

Make a virtual visit to our synod’s two Lutheran Campus Ministry sites – Lutheran Campus Ministry, Mankato (crossroadsatmnsu.org) and Lutheran Campus Ministry, Winona (www.lccwinona.org)

New Ministries Table: Help Kick-Start Ministry

Southeastern Minnesota abounds in people without a connection to their faith or to a faith community. The New Ministry Table is working to do something about it. Task forces are being developed to help kick-start and guide ministry in the following areas:

  • African National Ministry
  • Latino Ministry
  • Emergent (Young Adult) Ministry

As people of similar passions and interests come together amazing results often follow. If you feel called to be a part of any of these three task forces (or if you simply want more information), contact Rev. Pete Reuss (Synod Mission Director) at reuss@semnsynod.org or 507-696-3309.
