Leaders throughout the synod have collaborated on the production of a digital worship service that is now available for use in your congregation. We hope this service will be a source of deepened connection across the synod, and we also hope it provides space for church staff and tech production teams to take a Sunday off. The worship service will incorporate prayers, a children’s message, musicians from around the synod, Scripture, and a sermon. An accompanying worship bulletin is also available.

This service will be available for worship on Dec. 27, but may also be used on any following Sunday as you see fit. The Scripture readings are not lectionary-based.

The sermon will be available as part of the whole service, and it will also be available as a separate file. In addition to the files being available here for download, it will also be on our synod Youtube channel with a link on the synod’s Facebook page as well. We recognize that our congregations are utilizing a variety of digital platforms these days. Here are suggestions for how to use the worship service based on the platforms you’re currently using.

1) If you’re pre-recording worship and emailing people the link to view. On the week your congregation wants to use the synod worship service, you could direct the people of your faith community to the specific synod worship video link on our synod’s Youtube channel or synod’s Facebook page, and they can view it directly.

2) If you’re using Facebook Live to broadcast your weekly service. First, you’d download the synod’s worship service video file in the format of your choosing. Then, by using Facebook Premieres, you can set pre-recorded material to post on your congregational Facebook page through Facebook Live. Here’s a link for specific instructions for how to do that: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/580544922399103. As an alternative, you could also upload the synod’s worship video file directly to your congregation’s Facebook page so that people could view it anytime.

3) If you’re using Zoom to gather for worship. The Zoom host can pre-download the worship service from the synod’s website, and then “share” their screen during the Zoom.

4) If you’re using Youtube Live to broadcast your weekly service. First, you’d download the synod’s worship service video file in the format of your choosing. Then, by using Youtube Premieres, you can set pre-recorded material to post to your congregational Youtube page through Youtube Live. Here’s a link for specific instructions for how to do that: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9080341. As an alternative, you could also upload the synod’s worship video file directly to your congregation’s Youtube page so that people could view it anytime.
