Bright Spot: Practicing Advocacy

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield is using the ELCA downloadable immigration advocacy cards to send to our legislators in Washington, DC. 200 cards were printed, and a table was set up in the church Commons where members can sign the cards. The first Sunday of September, many members stopped at the table to sign the cards. The cards focus on immigration issues, emphasizing human dignity and rights. They will be mailed together at the end of the month to the ELCA  AMMPARO office in Washington, DC. The AMMPARO Migration Policy Advisor will hand-deliver the cards to Congress members or their staff.
