From Lindsay Colwell, St. John's Lutheran Church in Kasson
When congregation and community members alike talk about St. John’s Lutheran in Kasson, almost always the first thing you hear about is food. Whether that is our annual large Lutefisk meal that takes months of planning and lefse preparation to put on or our weekly Wednesday evening meal to our Food for Friends backpack program, food is nearly always at the top of the list. So when a local Eagle Scout candidate came forward to propose a free little food pantry it only seemed natural that this project was a good fit for our congregation. Through the generous award of the SEMN Synod Food Ministry Grant, our congregation has been able to keep this little pantry stocked over the past six months, as well as to provide a meal to go along with the gifts and Christmas trees that were for the local families we supported during the Christmas season. Along with the generosity of others in our community, one of our local Boy Scouts is working to keep this pantry stocked for those in need.
