The Holy Spirit Fund provides a way for the synod to come alongside congregations who are ready to follow the movement of the Holy Spirit in collaborative, community-oriented, Gospel-centered ways.
Round one of these grants was distributed in the summer of 2023. Round two will take place in the summer of 2025.
The Southeastern Minnesota Synod (ELCA) invites congregations to apply for a Holy Spirit Grant. These grants will provide a way for the synod to come alongside congregations who are ready to follow the movement of the Holy Spirit in collaborative, community-oriented, Gospel-centered ways.
Congregations may apply for a grant of $500 or $1000. As congregations consider proposals, they are invited to ponder: 1) What is something you've wanted to do for the sake of Gospel proclamation that you haven't because you weren't sure how to fund it? and/or 2) What new thing do you want to try for the sake of the Gospel?
The funds used for these grants have been made available through congregational and individual contributions to the Holy Spirit Fund, which began in May 2021, as well as an additional gift provided by our partners at churchwide.
Grant applications will be submitted online. The window for submission is June 5-August 5. The Holy Spirit Grant Disbursement Team (composed of lay and rostered people across the synod) will then receive and review the applications. Grants will be distributed by the third week of August.
