501(c)(3) Non-Profit Status

Wondering about your organization’s 501(c)(3) status? You’re not alone! 

Please read the following in order to find a starting point. 

• Because your congregation acts as its own entity, the SEMN synod office does not share its 501(c)(3) status with you, nor does it have access to any existing details for said designation.
• In order to establish your church as a 501(c)(3), or to find information about your already existent 501(c)(3) information, you will need to utilize the resources available through the ELCA’s website.
• Using the link below, you will be able to access ELCA Churchwide’s information regarding the process you will need to follow in order to get your 501(c)(3) ducks in a row.
